Owner of SchlegelTech Consulting firm. Currently consulting in Program Management, Engineering, Software Development, Aerospace Programs and Boeing Commercial Aircraft Programs. Also consulting for two non-profits, teaching courses, and performing speaker engagements on leadership and healthy living. Providing leadership coaching for the Boeing Innovation 2.0 Program and for the Boeing Leadership Association of Southern California (BLASC).

-Strategic Solutions Incorporated: Revamped software architecture and platform using agile development for a golf application deployment to meet customer needs

-Virgin Orbit: Improved Virgin Orbit Software and Test for readiness to launch for small satellite launcher

-SearchPros/Triad/Boeing: Delivered Airborne Early Warning Operational Software to USAF and led fix of complex navigation software. Repaired customer relations and received a letter of commendation from DCMA.

Executive responsible for commercial logistics software delivery to 45 customers, including Boeing. Changed processes to efficiently accomplish 120 software builds a year on time for upgrades and maintenance to satisfy all customers. Developed large sets of functionality such as decentralization, barracks/hotel accommodations, petroleum services. Reversed financials from trend red to black. Developed COTS and product line strategy. Developed 5 year modernization and technology roadmap plan.
Program Manager for Family of the Advanced Beyond the Line of Site Terminals (FAB-T) (4/2011- 2013)
Executive responsible for day to day execution and hardware/software integration of 22 Line Replaceable units and 3.0 million lines of code that enable terminal command of the conventional and nuclear forces over military satellite by 2014 for the Air Force. Provide oversight for 250 people and 3 major suppliers. Helped develop Firm Fix Priced (FFP) option for the Air Force to keep the program sold. Entered Test Readiness Review for Formal Functional Qualification on schedule to the proposed FFP offer.
Deputy Program Manager and Chief Engineer for Joint Tactical Radio System Ground Mobile Radios (9/2010- 4/2011)
Executive responsible for cost, schedule and technical of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radio (GMR), a leading edge battlefield software defined radio and mobile ad hoc communication system program. Responsible for ensuring software and system finishes development, passes System Integration Test, Security Verification Test, and Limited User Test. Established close working relationship with, the Joint Program Executive Office, the Army program management team and Boeing leadership for $1.8B of the Network Centric business. Successful performed to plan for major program milestones and achieved technical performance as demonstrated at Limited User Test.
Special turnaround assignment – SBInet (1/2010 to 9/2010)
Executive assigned to SBInet to repair customer confidence in the execution of software development. Cost, schedule, technical performance and customer (DHS/CBP) relationship had been compromised. Restored customer confidence in Boeing’s ability to perform Software development by working directly with the customer program executives. Restored performance to plan so that major program milestones were met. Turnaround actions resulted in delivery of six major Configuration Items on time and recovery of four months of EAC.
Deputy Program Manager and Software Director for Joint Tactical Radio System Ground Mobile Radios (4/2008 – 1/2010)
Executive responsible for developing software and integrating hardware and software for JTRS GMR. Provided daily technical and programmatic leadership to Boeing IPTs, which included 450 engineers and 8 subcontractors. Developed innovative process to improve horizontal integration of complex hardware and software products. Set the vision and strategy for performance to plan. Was accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance.
Director of Software and System Integration, Future Combat Systems
(4/2007 – 4/2008) (Executive Management for Boeing)
Executive responsible for integrating 20M lines of code with platform and battle command systems at the software, system and system of systems level. Performed oversight of Boeing IPTs and 30+ subcontractors producing software. Chartered 24 independent reviews to minimize EAC growth. Ten opportunities for cost avoidance and savings were identified and implemented.
Software Director for Orbital Express (11/2005 – 04/2007)
Executive assigned to Orbital Express to turn around cost, schedule, technical performance and customer (DARPA) relationship. Responsible for execution of the Flight Software, System Integration Laboratory (SIL), Ground Support Equipment and Ground Control Subsystem effort within cost, schedule, and technical commitments. Directed the turnaround activity that returned the Software IPT performance to plan and improved Boeing’s credibility with the DARPA customer. Turnaround resulted in meeting launch window, and resulted in NASA Goddard Award and Popular Science Program of the Year.
Chief Engineer for ICBM Systems Business Area (11/2004 - 11/2005)
Responsible for the execution of engineering (hardware, software, and systems) effort within cost and schedule commitments and expected quality goals. Provide leadership to engineering teams of 450 personnel at three sites with annual budgets of $400M). Responsible for managing the business area indirect labor and capital budget totaling $4M yearly. Responsible for the Technology Roadmaps and identification of resource requirements and required resource acquisition plans. Lead development of Business Area proposals and Engineering Commitment Reviews.
